OMG! WMC week has come and gone as quick as you could say WMC. Now that I've somewhat recovered I can regail you with stories from my adventures. This was a really great/productive conference for me hot off my collab on Illeven Eleven, which by the way, got an amazing review in the April edition of Mixmag UK (shown below)! Yay! Although it's a lot of work running around to endless parties and six gigs, it was definitely worth all the fun and laughs. Besides, where else can you see all your friends from around the world at the same place & same time?

So here is a very brief summary of the week: Having slept the entire flight to Miami on Wednesday, I was ready to rock upon my arrival to our North Miami mansion! My first gig, Bomb Giggity, unfortunately had to switch venues so I only played a few records there before heading to Project Mayhem's Social Gathering to play with my girl Jen Lasher as well as Richie Balboa, who filled in for an absent Elite Force. Thursday, I saw all my friends at Bring On the Beats pool party before playing 2 more gigs that night. Stanton Sessions vs. Hot Cakes vs. The Booty Farm was wicked fun! The line-up included 2 Live Crew, Splack Pack, Stanton Warriors, Deekline, Fort Knox Five, Baby Anne, Keith Mackenzie, Sporty-O, myself and more homies! I had to duck out back to South Beach for a bit to play at Break Loose with Martin Roth, Breakdown, Forest Green, etc. but was back rocking to 2 Live Crew before you knew it! Friday, we checked out the Beatport pool party, then there was a video shoot at our crib for Deekline & Dustin Hulton's tune with Splack Pack & Sporty-O... booty shaking girls and all! That night was the epic Future Sound of Breaks 8.0 Massive. The biggest Breaks/Drum & Bass/Dubstep/Electro line-up you've ever seen stateside, and it delivered! I had so much fun rocking the Illeven Eleven room, which has the biggest BASS of the party, IMO. By Saturday everyone was exhausted but I somehow stumbled upon a super fun Burner party before the grand finale of my gigs, our Illeven Eleven label party: I LOVE ILL. It was so fun to play with all my friends & label mates after partying with everyone all week. Even though the weather was dismal much of the week and I didn't leave with a tan, I still thought that this was my favorite WMC ever!
OoooKaaaay... back to business as usual. This weekend I have 3 gigs in San Francisco; Tuesday, I play for Champagne & Bacon in Reno. Tomorrow night I'm playing after Uberzone at Ruby Skye, then directly after at a super secret underground fundraiser for my beloved Burning Man camp, Opulent Temple. Hey hey! Guess who's back? I bet you're wondering why you haven't heard from me for awhile. Well to sum it up, the last month has been crazy bonkers! Sadly, some evil nerds hacked my precious website (along with 3 others that I own), then used my servers like a cheap street whore as a portal to send out malicious spam mail, trojans and viruses to poor helpless victims on the interweb. When I discovered this atrocity, I had to wipe the servers clean, rebuild my site, and reinstall the mailing list, etc. etc. Now, my promotional abilities and I are back in harmony and better than before! Just in time for WMC 2010! Whoo-whoo! While I've been offline, I've been secretly plotting to take over the world but have also found time to design up a storm and rock some fun gigs, especially this past weekend in Seattle at a wicked rave called Robogirls! Unfortunately because I've been such a busy bee, I wasn't able to finish my new Weapon of Choice Vol. 3 mix in time for Miami, but it will be completed shortly after. Thanx to Sporty-O (Illeven Eleven), from the ATL, who did an awesome drop for the mix, I'm super excited to finish it; WOC Vol. 2 had over 4000+ downloads! Well I didn't want to show up empty handed, so I printed some dope stickers and a very limited run of DJ ICON T-shirts designed by the amazing Sam Flores. He's my favorite urban artist, so it is really special to have him do this for me. <3
Anyway, I'll keep this short, but if you are going to be at WMC, I've compiled all of my events into one convenient pretty picture; details for each party are listed below. I'm super excited about all six shows that I'm playing this year, especially our Illeven Eleven label party on Saturday: I LOVE ILL. Can't wait to soak up some sun and shake my booty (and yours)! Hiya friends! Another week has passed but it feels like a day, time sure seems to move faster as I'm getting older! Which means there is no time to waste; no more "I'll do it tomorrow." This Friday I'm playing LA NUIT DE DAMES (LADIES NIGHT) @ Roe with local DJanes J.Phlip from Dirtybird, Dulce Vita from Opulent Temple and more. Saturday is reserved for OPULENT TEMPLE DEEP UNDERGROUND, my beloved Burning Man camp's first fundraising efforts of 2010, with a wicked line-up of playa heroes. Please support us, in dust we trust!
Lastly, I recently was a guest speaker at a middle school in the Bay Area. A teacher approached me at a gig and said I would make a good role model for his 6th graders so I agreed; It was really rewarding to share my story... highs, lows, lessons learned, to these awesome kids. I was touched when I received a mailbox full of thank you cards. I wanted to share with you one of their sweet messages, so cute!
"Dear Connie, I really enjoyed that you came to talk to us. I really appreciated your story. [Teacher] gave me one of your CD's, and I really enjoyed listening to it. I like track 4, 'Begging'. I like how your music keeps going with the same beat. I didn't even know when the song changed."

Hey all you lover boys and girls. Happy Valentine's Day to you! Given the name of my Blog, it's only appropriate that I'll be sharing my latest faves in banging tunes and cute puppies. It's a little something for everyone. Raindrops on roses? Not anymore! These are a couple of my favorite things.

I am loving this slamming ghetto house remix of an old favorite from Telepopmusik!
This new one re-edits, rips-apart and spits out, in Peo de Pitte style, the old classic track “Breathe” from French electronic trio Télépopmusik.
“Breathe” was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording and the track has also been used in several commercials.
This one has been road tested with extreme results!

I've had a bit of a break from gigs in January, but in the meantime, my new release made it to the Top 10 on Beatport & I finally unveiled my long-awaited website!
