Hiya friends! Another week has passed but it feels like a day, time sure seems to move faster as I'm getting older! Which means there is no time to waste; no more "I'll do it tomorrow." That's why I've been kicking the promotion machine into overdrive lately. Now that my new website is up with my new blog, the last step was fnally putting up my Facebook Fan Page.

PLEASE BECOME A FAN ON THE DJ ICON FACEBOOK PAGE. and help me post to your pages! Thank you so much... I appreciate your continued support:)

This Friday I'm playing LA NUIT DE DAMES (LADIES NIGHT) @ Roe with local DJanes J.Phlip from Dirtybird, Dulce Vita from Opulent Temple and more. Saturday is reserved for OPULENT TEMPLE DEEP UNDERGROUND, my beloved Burning Man camp's first fundraising efforts of 2010, with a wicked line-up of playa heroes. Please support us, in dust we trust!

Lastly, I recently was a guest speaker at a middle school in the Bay Area. A teacher approached me at a gig and said I would make a good role model for his 6th graders so I agreed; It was really rewarding to share my story... highs, lows, lessons learned, to these awesome kids. I was touched when I received a mailbox full of thank you cards. I wanted to share with you one of their sweet messages, so cute!

"Dear Connie, I really enjoyed that you came to talk to us. I really appreciated your story. [Teacher] gave me one of your CD's, and I really enjoyed listening to it. I like track 4, 'Begging'. I like how your music keeps going with the same beat. I didn't even know when the song changed."

That's it for this week. Hope to see you shaking it like a Polaroid picture on the dancefloor!

Yours Truly,
ICONnie

Bass & Puppies Valentine's Edition

Hey all you lover boys and girls. Happy Valentine's Day to you! Given the name of my Blog, it's only appropriate that I'll be sharing my latest faves in banging tunes and cute puppies. It's a little something for everyone. Raindrops on roses? Not anymore! These are a couple of my favorite things.

TELEPOPMUSIK - BREATHE - PEO DE PITTE REMIX

I am loving this slamming ghetto house remix of an old favorite from Telepopmusik!

This new one re-edits, rips-apart and spits out, in Peo de Pitte style, the old classic track “Breathe” from French electronic trio Télépopmusik.

“Breathe” was nominated for the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording and the track has also been used in several commercials.

This one has been road tested with extreme results!

AND NOW... A PUPPY!

I love papillons. My beloved "Prince", now in doggy heaven, was of this French breed.  More next time! Have a sweet weekend <3

Sent to subscribers of my mailing list, ICONtact

Gung Hay Fat Choy! It's one week until Chinese New Year and I am feeling great about the year of the Tiger. RAWR! As I've bitched and moaned to you before, 2009/year of the Ox was just not my year; I wedged myself into a pretty deep funk, but what a difference a month makes! In January (damn, where did the month go?), I had some time off to regroup; had a new release that's getting good reviews and currently in the top 10 on Breaks & #24 on Electro House dance charts on Beatport; designed and launched my new website djicon.com; had a featured top 10 chart; made plans for next production and WMC. Lastly, please vote for me as 2009 Breakthrough DJ on Breakspoll!

*SPECIAL BONUS ALERT* for my subscribers! My man, Ali B, has just released his slamming new 'Nu Funk' mix on the new Air Recordings website that I recently designed and built! See below for details.

If you've missed out on anything, all info is below. See you on the dancefloor soon!

xxoo,
ICONnie

NEW WEBSITE!

At long last, DJICON.COM v.5 is LIVE! After being down for the last year, it's back in a bigger, badder, rougher and tougher form. I dedicated all my energy in January into designing a beautiful new site and building it in the powerful Joomla CMS; getting my geek on! Special thanx to Brandon Sugiyama aka Bam for doing the awesome flash intro for me. I've been getting good feedback so far so please check it out and let me know what you think! :)

NEW RELEASE #9 ON BREAKS/#24 ON ELECTRO HOUSE CHARTS

My new release, Dustin Hulton & DJ ICON ft. Nikki Carabello "Welcome To My Dancefloor" on Illeven Eleven is OUT NOW on Beatport and moving on up! Yay!

A: Original Mix - This dreamy breakbeat tune sees Orlando's Dustin Hulton, formerly known to the breakbeat world as D-Lerium, team up with San Francisco's DJ ICON for a coast-to-coast combo laced with classiness by vocalist Nikki Carabello. Big drums, catchy synths, underlaid sub, and bass drops topped off with a half time wind-down in the middle, make for a spectacular build-up of energy in this highly stylish endeavor.

B: Wireless Mice Remix - Remix efforts by Wireless Mice chop and stutter Nikki Carabello's vocal to the tune of an electro house kick drum. Complimented by super effects and a driving synth/bassline, Wireless Mice turn out the perfect electro gem remix.

FEATURED TOP 10 BEATPORT CHART

Also on Beatport is my DJ ICON'S TOP 10 WEAPONS OF CHOICE Chart!
It's a diverse mix of Breaks, Electro House & Dubstep. After deliberation that there was too much Electro House, Beatport was kind enough to give it a featured banner on the Breaks section. Thanks guys! :)

BREAKSPOLL 2009

Lastly, I wanted to ask you a small favor. Voting is open on this year's Breakspoll International Breakbeat Awards. Please vote for me as 2009 BREAKTHROUGH DJ. Your support would mean the world to me!

My Top 10 Chart on Beatport

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail

Sunday, 31 January 2010 01:26

Check out my new top 10 chart... after deliberation from Beatport, they put it on the Breaks page as a featured chart. Originally it was denied because it had too much Electro House. Go figure, haha! To be fair, there is also some Dubstep to keep it interesting... Enjoy!
