Well, well, well… so another year has gone by. Just got back from my mini-Euro tour and was slammed by X-mas and New Year’s immediately! Time sure flies when you’re having fun, or just getting older it seems. I’m so very grateful that 2011 has been pretty epic for me in all areas of life: music, professional, personal. I’ve played some great gigs, went on amazing travels, put out a couple good releases, moved into a fabulous flat with my hunny, did some ground-breaking design and application work, been through a couple acquisitions, adopted another cute kitty, spent lots of quality time with family and friends, got back into top shape and of course… had the BEST Burning Man ever. This was just a short summary of the extremely busy year I’ve had. As I’ve gotten older, my priorities have changed, I’ve become less spontaneous and have become more conscious of the consequences of my actions. I’ve struggled to balance my music career with my professional life since leaving my freelance life for a “real” career two years ago – all in exchange for a better quality of life. The freelance was life was fun in my twenties; working, DJing, traveling and doing whatever whenever, but I lacked discipline and structure. Now that I have the structure but need to make more time for my musical and creative needs. Like anything, both careers take time and dedication… my New Year’s resolution is to spend more time working on music and expressing myself through my music. This is the only way I will be truly balanced.
Now onto the festivities for the New Year’s weekend! This is certainly the year for change, it’s the first year I’m not DJing on New Year’s Eve in many years. It’s a strange sensation to not be obligated to be at a club or party a at a certain time so I’m considering my options for the night, I may not even end up at a party! I’m considering New Year’s Day as my big day to celebrate the new year. I’m playing at the Space Cowboys’ Breakfast of Champions block party for the fourth year in a row, it’s always a blast and the best party of the year to see all your friends and local heroes at the same place at the same time. After that I am representing my Burning Man camp, Opulent Temple, at Day One: A 100% benefit for our 2012 10-year anniversary Burning Man efforts. It’s only $5 pre-sale so I hope you plan on party-hopping because both parties will be awesome!
So all in all, this was a pretty epic year, I am forever grateful for all the blessings in my life and I look forward to 2012 being an even more epic year with all of you!
All gig info is below. Have an ILL weekend – I hope to see you on the dancefloor! xxx
